Egypt's Islamists on the way up
The second stage of the People's Assembly elections started. The pragmatic Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party and the hardline Salafi Al-Nour Party, which together won around two thirds of party-list votes in the first round, are expected to continue their election triumph.
Elections in Egypt
On November 28, voting begins in the first stage of Egypt's parliamentary elections. But due to violent protests against the ruling military council, the volatile security conditions, the complicated electoral system and confusing political constellations, many Egyptians doubt that the elections will be a critical step towards democracy.
Democratic Transition and the Role of Law
Invited by KAS and CCCD, experts and professors discussed the challenges which Egypt faces during the transitional period, giving special focus on legal aspects. The outcomes of the conference will be published in a book.
