NCPR GOES PARLIAMENT 2009

Capacity Building for Parliamentarians

The NCPR, a KAS partner in Afghanistan, has launched a capacity building course on 4th of October 2009 for 15 selected Parliamentarians. The course is financed by the Centre for International Private Enterprise. The topics taught were Market Economy, good governance, private property and economic development, anti-corruption, tax policy, trade and globalization, entrepreneurship and the Role of Business in society. This course lasts for 12 weeks and will be held two days a week.

CAPACITY BUILDING

GARF Training Program in Kabul and Provinces

The NCPR has held a Research Methodology seminar from 27th of September 2009 for around 40 participants including lecturers and top students of six social sciences faculties of Kabul University at its centre. The program will last five weeks and all methods of a Scientific Research will be taught by experts. Additionally the NCPR will organize a GARF training for 6 consecutive days for 35 lecturers and top students of Nangarhar University from 18th of October 2009.

PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN GERMANY

Seminar on the 60/20 Anniversary

On September 27, the elections for the Federal German Bundestag will take place. Moreover, 2009 is the year of important anniversaries of younger German history: 60 years Basic Constitutional Law, 20 years fall of the Berlin Wall and therein included 40 years of German division. Paying to these occasions tribute, the KAS arranged a seminar on the “60-20 anniversary & Elections” for selected 250 decision makers from Pakistan and Afghanistan. Stakes high as Afghans go to vote

The Taliban has vowed to disrupt elections in Afghanistan on 20 August and insurgent activity continues to take its toll on civilians and national and international forces. AFG-PAK DIALOGUE FORUM 2009

Bridging Bilateral Gaps

The regions which constitute Pakistan and Afghanistan besides sharing a 2640 Km mostly porous and undemarcated border are interlinked historically, culturally, economically and more so religiously. The fates of the two countries are intertwined through out the known history of this region due to the geographic location. In order to understand one, one must unravel the other. A bilateral meeting was arranged by KAS with some representatives to bridge some of the gaps.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Elections

Two trainers of the "Presidential Election - Duties and Responsibilities of Media" seminar and lecturers of Journalism Faculty of Kabul University traveled to Germany through DW- AKADEMIE by mediation of NCPR and KAS for two weeks. The journalists of the mentioned program are also included among the 12 invitees. This group will perceive the duties specially the reporting of German Journalists in European Parliamentary Elections that will be held on 7th of June 2009.
