MERKEL VISIT

Chancellor Merkel in Afghanistan

The Bundeswehrverband has praised the visit of chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel in Afghanistan. Head of this association Ulrich Kirsch said on NDR Info, Merkel has given a signal in tough times and put German soldiers into the focus of attention. The chancellor has concluded her visit to Afghanistan by now. The head of government has been flown on 7th of April 2009 from the base of German Armed Forces in Masar-i-Scharif to Termes in Usbekistan.

URUZGAN

Capacity Building Seminar at NCPR

The NCPR, the partner of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, in cooperation with GTZ and the Dutch Government has started a Capacity Building Seminar for government employees of the provincial departments of Agriculture, Irrigation and Civil stock, Rural Rehabilitation and Development as well as the Central Statistic Office of Uruzgan. On 03/10/09 representatives of KAS, GTZ and the Dutch Embassy took part in the opening ceremony in Kabul as well as Senator Hanafi.

Counselling Workshops for Selecting the Research Topics at NCPR in 2009

The NCPR had held several workshops for selecting its Research Topics in 2009. Each department of NCPR had organized and prepared 15 very vital topics to be evaluated by the participants and they had to vote for the most important ones. More than 71 participants, Experts of Economics, Social Sciences and Law & Political Sciences from Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations, Professors of Kabul University and professionals from the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan attended. more…

Young Kabul Art

When the Taliban destroyed the Buddha statue in Bamyan in March 2001, the enormous dimension of their strategy of cultural destruction became visible. The project “Discovering Democracy – Young Kabul Art 2007” supported not only the reconstruction process of the first working circles of young Afghan artists also the thoughtfulness of the participants was focused on democracy because democracy cannot only be described as the state of the art, also it can be stated artistically. more…

ACCOUNTANT TRAINING

KAS Partners recieved a accountant training course

During 1.12 to 4.12 KAS accountants, as well as administrators of our partners in Afghanistan recieved a professional accountant training by Mrs. Kim Tan and Mr. Michael Winzer. The measure was aiming at securing the quality of accounting and teaching the accountants.

NATIONAL CENTRE FOR POLICY RESEARCH

KAS-Partner in Afghanistan

The National Centre for Policy Research is the first Afghan think-tabk and was founded by KAS at Kabul University in 2003. It is devided into four departments and the objective is to support the Afghan government by producing and implementing effective policy. In 2009 the think-tank will be a contracted partner of KAS. Mr. Dr. Hamidullah Noor Ebad is the head of NCPR.
