Delegation visits the President of the German Bundestag

n 17th September a meeting with the President of the German Bundestag also took place, during which the leaders of the respective delegations reported on problems and conditions in their countries of origin. The majority of Afghan delegates showed their appreciation for the German commitment and requested its continuance, the Pakistani representatives asked for an intensification and an increase of the German-Pakistani cooperation

G8 AFGHANISTAN PAKISTAN INITIATIVE

Delegation at the Ministry of the Interior

On Wednesday, 17th September 2008, Afghan-Pakistani delegation met with Mr. Alexander Fritsch at the Ministry of the Interior, to exchange thoughts as to the police training project in Afghanistan. The consultation was very successful, since many Pakistani politicians were not only informed about the German commitment in their neighbouring country, but also expressed the wish to likewise obtain German know-how and training.

Collective further and advanced training at the German Bundestag

At the Bundestag the Afghan and Pakistani delegations met for the purpose of a common advanced training program. Mr. Thomas Hadameck gave a lecture on Parliamentary Law and similarities as well as differences between the Houses of the respective countries were debated and discussed.

Delegation in Berlin

Als erster Schritt unseres G8 Projektes wurden 12 Parlamentarier aus Afghanistan und Pakistan und vier hochrangige Mitarbeiter der Parlamentsverwaltung nach Deutschland eingeladen. Das G8 Projekt der KAS konzentriert sich im Wesentlichen auf Artikel 11 der gemeinsamen Erklärung zu der “G8 Afghanistan-Pakistan Initiative” der Außenminister der G8 Staaten und der Außenmister von Afghanistan und Pakistan, welche am 30 Mai 2007 ins Leben gerufen wurde.

DEVELOPMENT OF DEMOCRACY IN AFGHANISTAN

Democracy? Yes, of course – but not with the actual actors

The upcoming elections could be the last chance for political stabilization in Afghanistan. Therefore we have to avoid mistakes like in 2004 and 2005. Fair and free elections with candidates which are accepted by the Afghan people and authentic background are needed to prevent “domestic damage” and the image of o system getting a “frontage democracy”. KAS-PARTNER GET ENHANCEMENT

NCPR becomes another research unit

On Tuesday, 29th July 2008 the department of Peace Studies becomes the fourth research unit of NCPR. The following departments already exist: Law and Political Sciences, Economics and Social Sciences. The inauguration was celebrated in institute´s garden. German Ambassador welcomes guests

The German Ambassador welcomes VIP guests on 5th June 2008 for the presentation of lexica “social market economy” in his residency. About 60 selected MPs, businessmen, professors, representatives of Afghan civil society, KAS-Alumni and German-Afghans got the possibility to talk about conference topics seriously.

RUN FOR KAS-PUBLICATION IN AFGHANISTAN

Social market economy at silk route

300 books of the lexica “social market economy” in Dari were out of stock within minutes after presentation. Every university, research institutes and the Afghan parliament, as well as the bibliotheca afghanica received the lexica free of charge. Also the KAS-Publication "Islamists, Leftists – and a Void in the Center. Afghanistan's Political Parties and where they come from (1902-2006)" was out of stock within minutes. more…

CONFERENCE OPENDED

Social Market Economy at silk route?

The presentation of the lexica “social market economy” starts at 11 a.m. in Serena Hotel, Kabul. Approximately 250 guests were participating. Also the German ambassador, six KAS-Alumni and two radio stations participated. Beside the lexica, also the newest research conclusions of the BCPR were presented. more…

On 13th May 2008 a conference In search of an economic order for Afghanistan - Social market economy at the silk road?“, organized by KAS started in Heart. The primarily aim of the conference was to show opportunities and challenges for economic consolidation after years of war in Afghanistan. During the “Ludwig-Erhard week” dari version of “lexica of social market economy” will be presented, as well as some research activities of NCPR.
