Book presentation

The lexica “social market economy” was translated into nine different languages. Now Dari become the tenth language. The lexica should not be seen only as reference book, but also as source for inspiration and idea. On 5th June 2008 the presentation of the lexica will take place in Serena Hotel. Invited are MPs, businessmen, professors, representatives of Afghan civil society, KAS-Alumni.

Translation into Dari successful completed

The Economy Policy of Afghanistan found itself in regulative phase. According to this finding the idea raised to translate the lexica “social market economy as source of inspiration. The intended goal is on the one hand to offer a guideline to social market economy theory and on the other hand to promote the idea of social market economy in Afghanistan in general.

Afghan University delegation visits University of Peschawar

Higlight of delagation´s visit was on 12th April 2008 the visit of Area Study Centre in Peshawar. The 13 researchers there are multilingual and be classified as experts of the region. At half day exchange of views the principal of university, professors, students and journalists participated.

Pakistani think tank welcome Afghan delegation

The Institute for Regional Studies invited on 10th April 2008 a Afghan university delegation for a roundtable meeting. The main topic of interest was "AFG-PAK Relationship on bilateral Economic Perspectives". Members of the Afghan delegation were: employees of National Center for Policy Research and the principals of the universities of Kabul, Khost, Nangarhar, Herat, Kandahar and Paktia. The program was initiated by KAS in 2007.

Pakistan´s largest university welcome Afghan university delegation

On 9th April 2008 principal of Quaid-e-Azzam University, Dr. Qasim Jan welcome a Afghan university delegation. The program was initiated by KAS and Hans-Seidel-Foundation in 2007. It was decided that the bilateral cooperation between Afghan and Pakistani universities should become more intensive in the future. A Memorandum of Understandings will be drawn.

Meeting at University of Karachi

Within the framework of a KAS and HSS initiated university exchange six university principals met representatives of the university of Karachi on 8th April 2007. Their subject was the Afghan-Pakistani relationship. Cooperations in education are aimed for in short and medium term, in order to intensify the bilateral relationship. Out of 12 univerity presidents, six followed up on the invitation which proofs that the parties concerned are highly interested in an exchange.

Academic Exchange

Since in 2006 the Afghan-Pakistani Dialogue program started, civil societies of both countries get linked. The program was initiated by KAS and Hans-Seidel-Foundation in 2006. In form of a Afghan-Pakistani Dialogue between think tanks and scientists from 7th April to 14th April 2008 representatives of civil society in form of KAS-Alumni, university principals and scientists of KAS partner National Center for Policy Research will got linked.

Vertreterin der Deutschen Botschaft zu Gast

Am 03.12.2007 lud der Direktor des National Center for Policy Research (NCPR), Dr. Hamidullah Noorebad, zu einem Informationsgespräch an die Universität Kabul ein. Teilnehmer waren Vertreter der Deutschen Botschaft, des Germanistik-Instituts und die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung(KAS). Das NCPR ist seit 2003 Partner der KAS in Afghanistan.
