The EU and its Neighborhood in the Context of the German Parliament Election

2nd Workshop within KAS Eastern Partnership Young Journalist Network

From 16th until 21st June 2017, Belarus Country Office of Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized a seminar for young journalists from Eastern Partnership countries and Russia in Berlin.

This event was organized within the framework of the programme “KAS Eastern Partnership Young Journalist Network”. The aim of the project is to provide the participating journalists from Eastern Partnership countries and Russia with theoretical and practical inputs on the European Union and the Eastern neighborhood policy, as well as to train their practical skills in media production and modern journalistic techniques.

During the second event of the series, young journalists received a comprehensive training from experienced German media practitioners and worked on their articles about the current political challenges within the context of the upcoming Bundestag election.

The participants had an opportunity to refine their journalistic skills and to deepen their knowledge about the German political system and its challenges by conducting interviews with Dr Michael Kolkmann (Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg), Stefan Evers (Secretary General of CDU Berlin), Eva Majewski (Managing Director of the Young Group in the German Bundestag), Astrid Ziebarth (German Marshall Fund) und Olaf Wientzek (Coordinator for Europe Policy, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung).

During the visit to the Head Office of Junge Union, participants were introduced to the innovative methods of CDU party election campaign and its concept “Connect 17”. The highlight of the workshop was a discussion with Dr Hans-Gert Pöttering, Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
