For the 19th time, KAS China cordially invites the Chinese Alumni to attend the annual Alumni meeting which takes place in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. During the meeting the topic Structural Reforms and Energy Policies in China are discussed.

Baotou, located at the Yellow river, was the first industrialized city in Inner Mongolia. The area also possesses one of the world's largest deposits of rare earth. That makes Baotou an important industrial area. Since the 1960s the steel industry has played an important role for the rise of Baotou. In accordance with the 13th Five-Year Plan, this city also faces major changes in regard to the process of economic structural reforms.

This workshop will mainly focus on the local changes in the context of energy and resource policies of China. It will furthermore discuss opportunities and challenges for the German-Chinese cooperation in the energy sector.
