The essay at hand tries to give a well-defined picture of the SCO and will discuss possible perspectives on the development of this institution. It is asserted, that their scope of action has grown but the different concerns of the members are actually blocking an effective cooperation within the SCO and also with the western alliances. For strengthen the SCO in the long term and extend their international influence the members shall push down their own interests more than ever before.
