The Center of Sustainability Studies of Getulio Vargas Foundation (GVces), in partnership with the Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change (EKLA) of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) will promote a Latin American Carbon Pricing Forum.

On the first day of the event, an academic session will be held, with presentation and debate of abstracts submitted and approved by an evaluation committee to be formed by regional specialists. The second day aims to promote the exchange of experiences and strengthen the market-readiness of the stakeholders involved with the carbon pricing agenda in Latin American region.

The specific objectives of the Forum are:

  • Bringing together key players, from the Academy and of the different economic sectors, involved with carbon pricing in Latin America and offer a space to explore collaboration among them;
  • Present the context and advances in the carbon pricing agenda in Latin America, showing what each actor has accomplished, and the relevant initiatives in course, evidencing the opportunities for collaboration national and transnationally;
  • Explore good practices and lessons learned from both the public and private sector in the theme; and
  • Discussing the potentials and challenges related to designing and operating an emissions trading system in Latin American.

We invite researchers who are studying carbon pricing experiments to present the results. Deadline for submission: May 20.
