Ex-Prime Minister Prof. Bernhard Vogel urges for wakefullness in the process of European Integration
On the second day of the conference "Building bridges in Europe" in Tallinn honorary chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Vogel, prized the effort of Eastern Europeans in overcoming the splitting of Europe.

Europe as a continent of Commemoration
After yesterday's ceremonial opening of the conference "Building bridges in Europe. Literature, Values and European Identity" the scientific part of the conference began today. The frame for round 100 participants built the House of Blackheads.

In a full historic Town Hall of Tallinn the State Secretary at the German Ministry of Education, Thomas Rachel, and Estonian Minister of Science and Education, Prof. Jaak Aaviksoo, opened the 6th international conference "Building bridges in Europe".

On behalf of Tallin's election to the European Capital of Culture 2011 Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung invites to an international conference "Building bridges in Europe. Literature, Values and European Identity" on May 16-19, to the Estonian capital city.

Liberal-conservative government can continue it's work
Estonians have shown their confidence in their liberal-conservative government of Estonian Reform Party (RE) and the Union of Homeland and Res Publica (IRL). During the Parliamentary elections on March 6, the governing parties received 49.1 percent in total of citizen's votes. In Riigikoku, the Estonian Parliament, the IRL and RE can continue their job with solid 56 of 101 mandates. The KAS-Partner and EPP-Member IRL declared itself satisfied.

Students simmulate activities of International Criminal Court
Together with the Estonian partners Unitas Foundation and Open Republic the KAS organizes a seminar series on the function and procedures of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Participants are simulating current processes at ICC. The project is supported by EU funds.

Building bridges in Europe
On behalf of the 60 anniversary of the ECSC-Treaty the KAS-Country Programme Baltic States announces Literature competition for 16-20 year old school children and youth with good German skills under the motto "Building bridges in Europe". The competition invites to think about and creatively describe motives or own experiences being together in Europe. The competition ends on 4th of April 2011.

Homage for Arvo Pärt
In a Homage 2011 KAS shows respect to Arvo Pärt, one of the most prominent representatives of current classical music. The Estonian Composer merges different (Music) traditions in his spiritual and contemplative seemingly music together and develops a creation in an ethnical context. On January 19, the President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert will congratulate Arvo Pärt in a festive Soirée in the KAS Academy in Berlin.

Laar: "Without the legal state there is no social market economy"
Former Estonian Prime Minister Dr. Mart Laar gave an Interview during the VIIIth International Law Conference of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and highlighted the importance of social market economy for development of his country after the Iron Curtain fall.
