Homage for Arvo Pärt
In a Homage 2011 KAS shows respect to Arvo Pärt, one of the most prominent representatives of current classical music. The Estonian Composer merges different (Music) traditions in his spiritual and contemplative seemingly music together and develops a creation in an ethnical context. On January 19, the President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert will congratulate Arvo Pärt in a festive Soirée in the KAS Academy in Berlin.

Former Estonian Prime Minister Dr. Mart Laar gave an Interview during the VIIIth International Law Conference of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and highlighted the importance of social market economy for development of his country after the Iron Curtain fall.

Night Dust and Knock Code or Le Dossier Robert
During the event series "Reprocessing of Communism as an European Task" the Author and Civic rights defender Karsten Dümmel reads on September 6 at 6 p.m. at the Linnatheatre Tallinn (Lai 23) from his novel "Night Dust and Knock-Code or Le Dossier Robert". Presentation of the handbook "Adventure Sphere Europe"
After one year of intensive work the KAS with its Baltic partners, the University of Latvia and the Jaan Tönissoni Institute, are presenting the handbook "Adventure Sphere Europe" on Friday, August 13th, 2010 in Tallinn. The handbook shall enable teachers to present the European values as well as the functioning of the European institutions in a more interactive, and thus in a more interesting way to their pupils. The second German-Estonian Constitutional State Conference
German and Estonian law experts met on May 10 in Tartu in order to discuss the impact of Lisbon Treaty on national legislation and decission making processes in 27 EU member states. The participants, Expert on International law Christian Tomuschat, Judge of Estonian Constitutional Court Julia Laffranque as well as the former Chancellor of Justice of Republic of Estonia Allar Jöks, debated especially on the question of competence and primacy of European law. The Lisbon Treaty versus National Constitutions of EU Member States
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung together vith Tartu University invites to the second Estonian-German constitution conference "The Lisbon Treaty vs. National Constitutions of EU Member States: Is the Question of Supremacy solved?" on May 10, 2010. The Father of Estonian Economic Miracle becomes 50.
Today, on April 22, the two-time Prime Minister of Estonia Mart Laar celebrates his 50 Birthday. As head of government (1992-94/1999-2001) Laar implemented the "Flat Tax" and repegged Estonian Krone to German Mark in order to bring in currency stability and so he built the ground for Estonian economic miracle. In foreign policy he chose Western course for his country, which led into the EU and NATO membership of Estonia in 2004.

Imbi Paju meets Freya Klier
The prominent Estonian author Imbi Paju meets the film director and former dissident of GDR Freya Klier on April 15 at the Museum of Occupation of Estonia. Twenty years after the fall of Berlin Wall and reestablishment of Estonian independence they will speak about power and powerlessness in a dictatorship as well as transformation processes in Mid and Eastern Europe. Ken-Marti Vaher new Secretary General of IRL
After his election to Chairman of IRL Mart Laar has nominated the new Secretary General. The 35 year old Member of Parliament Ken-Marti Vaher displaces Margus Tsahkna, who was in this position for three years. Recently candidated Tsahkna unsuccessfully for Deputy Party-Chairman. He will continue to support the party-board of IRL as political consultant. Vaher will prepare his party for parliamentary election during the next twelve month period.
Mart Laar - Chairman of IRL
As expected with the vast majority of votes Mart Laar was elected as Chairman at the party congress of KAS-partner party Isamaaliit/Res Publica (IRL) last weekend. The Ministers Juhan Parts and Tõnis Lukas as well as the Speaker of the Parliament Ene Ergma were elected as substitute chairpersons of the party. Mart Laar reinforced the willingnes of his party to lead the minority government to parliamentary elections 2011. Moreower he told, he is willing to stay in government for the next session.
