Application Summer School 2016

Challenges and Perspectives of the European Community of Values 01. August – 07. August, 2016, Kuldiga, Latvia
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung welcomes applications (in English) to its international Summer School on European identity in the beautiful city of Kuldiga, Latvia. The application deadline is 9th of May.
The objective of the course is to provide a comprehensive overview to its participants from Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia of the main contemporary European challenges with a particular relevance for the Baltic region. Issues of Common Foreign and Security Policy, energy policy and European Asylum System will be debated against the background of the so-called European identity: Do these policies mirror the EU´s formal commitment to a set of common European values such as democracy, peace, individual freedom and human rights or are they driven by more economic and political interests of its member-states? Are there values shared by all EU-citizens? What do Europeans have in common? What is the future of European integration? For those interested in European politics the Summer School offers a unique opportunity to discuss these essential questions with experts and political actors in an open and international setting.
Participants that fulfill the following criteria can register for the Summer School:
- Undergraduate and graduate students
- Ph.D. students and young professionals
- Good English skills
- No inclination to extreme left-wing or extreme right-wing ideology
During the event the attendees will be guests of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. No participation fee will be charged. Travelling costs up to 130 Euros will be refunded.
