Heavy loss of farm crops due to climate change is predicted to bring famine if measures are not put in place. The government of Ghana has contracted engineers to come out with ways to solve the problem. However, what is not being done is the education of communities on what climate change is, its impacts and what they can do to cope with the effects.

To fill this gap, KAS, together with CIKOD, intends to organize a two days workshop in the Upper West Region to strengthen the capacity of traditional women leaders and the District Assemblies on Climate Change and its impact. It also intends to strengthen capacities of traditional women leaders to raise awareness of climate change in their communities and build their resilience to cope with climatic fluctuations and the effects on food security. The workshop also seeks to support the District Assemblies to develop by-laws to promote climate change adaptation.
