Successful workshop on local governance and gold mining
The contribution of the local and traditional leaderships to development processes in northern Ghana is of major importance. Recent gold discoveries entailed new challenges on the region and the inhabitants. Being aware of the extend of devastation of the gold mining companies, the traditional leaders and the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) established initial stages for solutions to limit the negative effects on the environment.

Visit of the former German Federal President Prof. Horst Köhler in Accra
The former German Federal President, His Excellency Mr. Horst Köhler will be visiting Ghana from the 19th to the 21st of September 2011. He follows the invitation of the John A. Kufuor and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. On the 20th of September Prof. Köhler will launch the John A. Kufuor Foundation by giving a lecture on the topic “Walking the Tightrope: Balancing State, Market and Society” for diplomats, lecturers and students at the University of Ghana in Accra.
