Visit of the former German Federal President Prof. Horst Köhler in Accra

The former German Federal President, His Excellency Mr. Horst Köhler will be visiting Ghana from the 19th to the 21st of September 2011. He follows the invitation of the John A. Kufuor and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. On the 20th of September Prof. Köhler will launch the John A. Kufuor Foundation by giving a lecture on the topic “Walking the Tightrope: Balancing State, Market and Society” for diplomats, lecturers and students at the University of Ghana in Accra. more…

KAS Ghana Office met with partner organisations and the German Embassy on the 2nd of February, 2011. Each partner organisation was represented; Christian Mothers' Association, CIKOD, GUTA, National House of Chiefs, the NPP, Private Enterprise Foundation, TEPPCON, J. A. Kufuor Foundation on Leadership, Governance and Development and also the German Embassy for an interactive session gearing towards the enlightenment on the roles, duties and responsibilities of each partner organisation. more…

German MP meets former President Kufuor

The German MP Hon. Volkmar Klein met Mr. Kufuor on the 7th December. The MP was part of the German Delegation to Ghana. The purpose of the courtesy call was to reciprocate the former President's visit to the German Bundestag. Discussion was on issues of mutual interest especially Social Market Economy. The Member of Parliament also took the opportunity to wish the former President a happy 72nd birthday. Hon. The Deputy Secretary-General of the KAS, Prof. Dr. Beate Neuss met with H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor to wish him well and good health for his 72nd birthday. President Kufuor recounted how he was warmly welcomed to the KAS Headquarters during his recent visit. Prof. Dr. Neuss emphasised the need to deepen the co-operation to enjoy the mutual benefits of the support. She brought extra greetings from Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler, former German President, who is a special friend of former President Kufuor. more…

Zu einem ersten Informationsaustausch über die Arbeit der Stiftung und eventuelle Programmideen für das nächste Jahr trafen sich Alexander Asum - Ahensam, Minister für Chieftaincy and Culture, und Dr. Gregor Ryssel. Beide waren sich einig, daß die bisherige Zusammenarbeit mit den Chiefs auf den verschiedensten Ebenen fortzusetzen: Nur wenn Traditionelle Autoritäten, die einen direkten Zugang zur Bevölkerung haben und gewählte Politiker zusammenarbeiten, kann Politik nachhaltig gestaltet werden.

Kufuor roots for Social Market Economy

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, arrived back home Wednesday night after a five-day visit to Berlin, Germany, during which he advocated for the adoption of the principles of social market economy by African governments to ensure their sustained development. Nana Akufo Addo, Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr. Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, National Chairman of the NPP, accompanied former President Kufuor on the trip. more…

Kufuor to deliver a lecture in Germany

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, leaves Accra Saturday evening for Berlin at the invitation of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, a German non-governmental political organization, to participate in a series of high-level lectures on global economic governance. The Foundation initiated the lectures early this year under the theme: ‘The Social Market Economy in an International Context’. Nana Akufo Addo and Mr. Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey will accompany former President Kufuor on the trip. more…
