KAS and the Tamale Ecclesiastical Provincial Pastoral Centre (TEPPCON) have developed a Training Manual to be used by Trainers across the Northern Sector of the country to train District and Municipal Assembly members on the procedures of the Assemblies, duties and responsibilities of the Assembly members, relationship between the Assembly members, their constituents and the Assemblies and how traditional authorities could best be integrated to advance development at the local level. more…

KAS "Doc" Heinz Jockers teaches Democracy in Liberia

After more than 20 years of civil war, Liberia dares its first steps towards democracy. The German Heinz Jockers, Africa-expert since 35 years, has witnessed the presidential elections and teaches with his team members of Parliament and the Senat in democracy on behalf of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the EU. NCC: NEPAD must take account of culture of the people

The Chief Director of the National Commission on Culture, Mr. Kofi Asuman, has stated that for the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) to succeed, its principles must take into account the culture and tradition of the people. He said the culture of the people brought to the fore their sense of ownership and that the beneficiary countries must ensure that the cultural values of the people became the basis for such development programmes. more…

Dpty Minister: We’ll protect the Constitution

The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Captain Nkrabea Effah-Dartey (rtd.), has warned that any individual or group, which attempts to derail the country’s democratic process, will be dealt with according to Law. Capt. Effah-Dartey was speaking at the opening of a two-day workshop on the development of early warning systems to prevent full-blown internal conflicts in Akosombo on Thursday.
