The migration debate in Germany

Konrad Adenauer Foundation & Federal Trust

July 2 Monday

July 2, 2018, 17:00 - 19:00

Mary Sumner House, London

Prof Christian Dustmann, Dr Hartmut Mayer

This will be the second in our 2018 series of joint events with The Federal Trust and Global Policy Institute

When Germans speak about “migrants” they are rarely referring to EU citizens exercising their right of free movement. They are usually speaking about asylum seekers or economic migrants from outside the EU. In consequence the “migration debate” in Germany is differently structured to that which takes place in the United Kingdom. German and other experts will compare and contrast the debates in the UK and in Germany.

Confirmed speakers

Professor Christian Dustmann Professor of Economics, Department of Economics, University College London; Director of CReAM – Centre for Research and Analysis on Migration

Dr Hartmut Mayer Official Fellow and Lecturer in Politics (International Relations), St Peters College, University of Oxford

Roderick Parkes Senior Analyst, Institute for Security Studies
