From August 17 until August 19, 2011 the new KAS representative to Indonesia and East Timor, Dr. Jan Woischnik made his first field trip to Dili, the capital city of East Timor. Konrad Adenauer Stiftung supports many projects in the Timorese Civil Society area. Dr. Woischnik was received by the Foreign Minister, Mr. Zacarias Albano da Costa (see foto), by the President of the Parliament, Mr. Fernando Lasama de Araujo, and by several heads of political parties and leading UNMIT officers for extensive discussions. Topics, among others, were the security situation since the independence in 2002, the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections of 2012, and the future of the UNMIT, the United Nations’ integrated Mission to East Timor.
