A Portrait of Contemporary Indonesian Islam
Also available in Deutsch, Bahasa Indonesia
This book contains the contributions of a seminar on "A Portrait of Contemporary Indonesian Islam: Remapping and Responding to the Worldwide Social Agenda", which took place in December 2004 in Jakarta and was jointly organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Center for Languages and Cultures (CLC) of the State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN). A wide range of contemporary developments in Indonesian Muslim society are discussed in detail and in a pluralistic way. This publication intends to answer the question of why dialogue with Islam is important and why Indonesian Islam deserves world-wide attention.
