The Situation of Syrian refugees in Jordan

The conflict in Syria is in its fifth year and no political or diplomatic breakthrough seems to be in sight. More than 4.086.760 people have already fled the country and with the war further escalating, more and more are pushed to seek refuge - mainly in the countries neighboring Syria. Globally one in five refugees is Syrian and until a durable peace settlement has been negotiated, the numbers of Syrian refugees worldwide will further rise. more…

Reception at the German embassy in Amman on German Unification Day

Like last year, KAS Jordan office participated in the celebration of German Unification Day in Amman. The event was hosted by the German Embassy in Jordan and took place at King Hussein Club. Members of KAS informed the public about the work of the foundation and presented the most recent publications which were warmly received by the guests.

An analytical field study

The Social, Cultural and Economic Impacts of Syrian Refugees on the Governorate of Maan

A study about “the social, cultural and economic impacts of Syrian refugees on the governorate Maan” was issued by KAS Jordan in collaboration with Al Hussein University’s Studies, Consultations and Community Development Center. After the study of the socio-economic impact of Syrian refugees in Jordan, which was issued by KAS in cooperation with ISSNAAD in mid 2014, the idea came to do a similar study narrowed down to the governorate level. more…

In April 2015, KAS Jordan Office organized in collaboration with Mossawah Center for Civil Society Development a seminar entitled: "The Role of Municipal Councils in Local Community Development" in Ajloun, Jerash and Amman. 50-60 participants discussed the role of municipalities in local development and studied the participa-tory relationship between municipalities, youth and civil society organizations. more…

The Jordan Office of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) organized in collaboration with Mossawah Center for Civil Society Development a roundtable discussion in Irbid, Ramtha and Zarqa on “Youth Economic Empowerment in Light of the Syrian Refugee Influx”. The two-day event, held in March 2015, brought together representatives from the local community, civil society, activists, journalists and a number of Syrians living in the targeted areas of the private sector. more…

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Jordan Office in cooperation with Jordanian Young Economist Society (JYES) issued a research entitled “Strengthening Small and Medium Enterprises in Jordan”; the research is a result of several workshops with different concerned sectors. Christians and the Arab Spring -2

KAS Jordan office in cooperation with AlQuds Center for Political Studies organized a conference entitled Christians & the Arab Spring in which Christian figures from many Arab countries participated.The report enclosed the important discussions and opinions of the participants regarding the challenges Christians face in the aftermath of the Arab Spring, by the end of the conference the participants issued a declaration which included recommendations for the governments and the concerned parties more…

Project Citizenship

KAS Jordan and Jordanian Center for Civic Education (JCCE) jointly organized an Exhibition on Citizenship for 19 projects done by governmental school students. Students displayed their selected projects on local community problems, based on what they have learned during the year on responsible citizenship and active participation in policies; a list of the projects along with a short description can be read in the report. more…
