Violence at Jordanian Universities

Violence at Jordanian universities is a result of unresolved tensions not only at the university level, but also at the social and political level. The underlying factors behind its appearance are deepening and its implications vary. Jordanian Delegation Visits Germany

A Jordanian delegation accompanied by Dr. Otmar Ohering, Resident Representative of KAS Amman, visited different cities in Germany to meet with high ranking representatives and to discuss the changes and challenges the Hashemite Kingdom is facing, especially with regard to the ongoing civil war in Syria and its impact on Jordan and the region. One of the main topics was, in this framework, the role of Germany in the Middle East.

“The Syrian Conflict and its Impact on Jordan”

The Syrian civil war aggravated into an untransparent conflict in terms of players, level of violence, victims, and an increasing number of refugees. Especially Jordan is facing a huge influx of Syrian refugees which poses significant socio-economic, political, and security challenges to the country. The Arab Spring and its Effects on Women

In the course of long lasting resistance against dictatorships women were assigned a significant role. Though, it was the momentum of the Arab Spring that signaled and enhanced an unprecedented greater public presence of women’s struggle against exclusion and marginalization. Introduction to Media Skills for Women’s Organizations

Women’s organizations in Jordan are highly committed to serve the cause of equality and justice for society. Yet, their work is not known by a large part of the community. One reason is that many of their members lack the skills needed to approach and to professionally deal with media companies. TV Interview with Rasha Al Rashed, KAS project manager

In light of the workshop “Media Training for Women Organizations” which was held for 5 days from 30th June – 4th July. The training focused on media skills such as interviews, press release and social media for 15 women organizations in cooperation with Imdad Media Center. The director of Imdad Media Center “Dr. Nabil Al Sharif”, and KAS Project Manager “Ms. Rasha Al Rashed” in addition to the participant “Ms. Dima Farraj”, were interviewed by the Jordanian TV on their morning show “Youm Jadid” more…

Mass Influx to Jordan

Since the beginning of the uprising in Syria in March 2011 more than 1.7 Million Syrians have left their country out of fear of the consequences of the civil war. According to the UNHCR more than 498.529 of them fled to Jordan. Thereby, the Hashemite Kingdom hosts almost one third of the displaced Syrians, and thus – after Lebanon – more than any other country in the region. more…

Corporate Governance

Recent reforms, liberalisations, and privatisations by the government supported the growth of Jordan’s economy. However, this growth combined with a free market and globalization has challenged various businesses.
