Dr. Martin Beck gave the broadcaster ‘Deutsche Welle’ an interview regarding the importance of the Jordanian constitutional amendments that have recently been announced by Abdullah II, King of Jordan. Whilst the proposal for reforms does strengthen the role of the judiciary and legislative, it, according to Dr. Beck, does not decrease the power of the King or the influence of the security forces and does, hence, not fulfill the demands of the opposition.

3rd National Conference on Competition of the Ministry of Industry and Trade
During a welcome speech at the 3rd conference on the competition law in Jordan organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade under the patronage of H.E. the Minister Eng. Amer al-Hadidi, Dr. Martin Beck highlighted that Jordan is among the top countries in the region in terms of modernizing its competition law. This could help to enforce the principles of the free market, to avoid competition imbalances in economic sectors and to protect consumers.
