Signing Ceremony in the National Assembly
On the 31st of January Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAS) and the National Assembly (NA) signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the period of 2012 to 2014. The cooperation program intends to strengthen the National Assembly’s capacity to perform its constitutional role and obligations. Core objectives of the memorandum comprise the expansion of knowledge on issues related to effective, transparent and accountable governance, the strengthening of the NA’s law drafting capacity, improvement of professional skills regarding political communication, analysis and writing, the strengthening of effective political dialogue and the improvement of NA-media relations as well as deepening of knowledge on ASEAN regional integration mechanisms in the field of security cooperation and exchange between local governments with the intension to replicate best practices. Instruments to achieve these aims will mainly be training courses for National Assembly members and administrative staff, workshops and consultancy meetings. In the signing ceremony, both parties agreed on their responsibilities and obligations as well as the working plan for the next three years.
