Also available in Deutsch, русский

This year's conference of KAS scholarship holders took place in Astana from July 5 to 8, 2018. More than 80 scholarship holders and alumni attended the four-day program in the capital.

During this time, the 20th anniversary of Astana as the capital of Kazakhstan took place, which was included in the program. The conference focused on foreign and security policy issues. The German Ambassador, H.E. Rolf Mafael, gave a lecture on the fundamental ideas of German foreign policy; Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko explained the fundamental ideas of Kazakhstan's foreign policy. Both then engaged in a lively discussion with the scholarship holders. Dr. Albert Weiler, member of the Bundestag and president of German-Armenian society, explained the conflict over Nagorny Karabach. The discussion of this conflict and possible solutions was very interesting for the scholarship holders, as Kazakhstan maintains good relations with both parties to the conflict, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
