The successful KAS Media Africa initiative "E-lection Bridge Africa" continues its activities in the region with a web tv workshop in Nairobi for representatives from different political parties and the media.

Kisumu Peace Festival
The Kisumu Peace Festival is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-political movement which began in Kisumu, but which seeks to promote peace across the whole of Kenya and East Africa. The Opening Ceremony, will be graced by the Guest of Honour, the Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Visit of the German Ambassador at the Kenyan Episcopal Conference (KEC)
On 18th of the July 2011 the German Ambassador Margit Hellwig-Bötte was welcomed at KEC by Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth, Chairman of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission and Rev. Fr. Vincent Wambugu, Secretary General. Issues discussed were the position of the Catholic Church regarding the new constitution and the future cooperation with German development organizations. Representatives of AGEH, Misereor and KAS were also present.
German chancellor visits Kenya
The German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Kenya on 12 July accompanied by several members of the Federal Parliament and other officials. After meeting with the President and the Prime Minister and a state luncheon a briefing by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and other German Organizations in Kenya took place.

The new Constitution: A challenge for political parties and leaders in Kenya – The German experience
Until a new constitution came onto effect in 2010, Kenya was governed by a central government. Since Kenya has no experience with a decentralised government system KAS invited different delegates for a seminar to Germany. Read the full report here.

International Symposium on Devolved Government in Kenya
On the 9th of May a three day Symposium on devolved government ended at the Kenya International Conference Centre in Nairobi. Issues discussed were the benefits and efficiency of a devolved government system, as well as the best possible ways of it’s implementation in Kenya.

National Policy Dialogue Breakfast Meeting
On Thursday 14/04, the Partnership for Peace Project, funded by the European Union and KAS, hosted a National Policy Dialogue Breakfast Meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together representatives of both governmental and non-governmental institutions and organisations in order to discuss existing policy gaps in peace-building issues.

ICC summons “Ocampo Six” – End of impunity?
Last week, written summonses issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) have been delivered to the suspects of 2007/08 post-election violence (PEV) in Kenya. In December 2010, ICC Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo had made a request for summoning those personalities he believed to be most responsible for the committed crimes against humanity, widely known as the “Ocampo Six”. The way in which Kenya handles the ICC case is a very important test if she will suceed to scatter impunity.

Political dialogue: Delegation visits Kenya and Tanzania
In the context of a political visit by Dr. Hermann Kues (Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth Affairs), the Kenya and Tanzania office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organised a programme about the “Importance of the Social Doctrine of the church for Africa’s development”.

NARC-Kenya Party Reinvigoration Workshop for party branch officials & parliamentary group
On 4th of August 2010 the Kenyan people voted for a new constitution. As this new constitution is bringing mayor changes to the political structure in Kenya it is crucial for political parties to discuss important issues and to develop internal strategies to support the implementation process of the new constitution.During the workshop a special focus was set on the types of the elections in the forthcoming general election in 2012.
