Nakuru Meeting

A partnership of KAS and Daraja Civic Initiatives Forum. The meeting brought together Kenya’s university lecturers teaching ‘government’- a component of political science, to the History major students taking bachelor of education. The students will teach secondary school students, history and government, a subject that has recently incorporated governance content into history. The meeting was to review the school curricular and to appropriately validate the universities history course content.

Workshop on the Waki-and Kriegler-Report

A partnership between KAS and Dialogue Africa. This was a dissemination workshop on the reports of the two post election inquiries to a cross section of community leaders drawn from southern rift districts. The Independent Review Committee (Kriegler Committee) mandated to appraise the Kenyan electoral process and the Commission of Inquiry into the post election Violence (Waki Commission). KAS had earlier supported simplification and printing of the reports into reader friendly versions. more…

Kriegler & Waki Report on 2007 Elections

Kenya has been a political cross road ever since the close of the 2007 general elections. The National Accord requested the setting up of two commissions to investigate, examine and recommend on circumstances that surround the post election violence and to further scrutinize the country's electoral process with a view of initiating and guiding electoral reforms to avoid future electoral chaos. In line with the Accord, the commissions came out with brave and damning revelations.
