Kisumu Peace Festival
4th and 6th August 2011
The first Kisumu Peace Festival is set to take place in Jomo Kenyatta Grounds in Kisumu City between the 4th and 6th August.
The event will be a combination of performing arts entertainment, educational workshops, sporting events and a peace forum. Those invited to perform on the main stage will include Makadem, Dola Kabarry, Kenge Kenge, Winyo, Iterio Zion Youth Group, Pamoja Peace Youth Initiative and YAWA Dance Company.
The Opening Ceremony, which will take place from 2pm on Thursday 4th August, will be graced by the Guest of Honour, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The festival is a free event and is aimed at bringing together all communities in Kisumu as one, to unite in the common cause of making Kisumu and Kenya a peaceful place. So we invite all to join the people of Kisumu in “Celebrating Diversity in Unity”.
