The Museum of the Occupation of Latvia invites together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation visitors to the photo exhibition: “Freedom for the Baltic States. Writings by Latvians on the Berlin Wall”. The exhibition opening will take place on the 1. July 2015 at 3 p.m. at the Latvian Occupation Museum, Latviešu strēlnieku laukums 1, Riga.

The Berlin Wall divided West Berlin from East Berlin between 1961 until 1989. During its latter years it became one of the world’s biggest and most famous street art canvases. The Wall was decorated with hundreds of drawings and writings – including those made by Latvians, demanding the restoration of independence of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The Wall might be gone today, but a photo collection of the drawings and writings still remains, remembering these stories from the 1980s.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from July 2nd at the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, Latviešu strēlnieku laukums 1.
