In the summer of 1988, the Folklore-Festival "Baltica" took place. It was one of the most important nonviolent resistance movements. The gathering in of young people in communities with folk traditions was like a resistance against the russification. The most popular Folk-groups were Skandinieki (est. 1976), Iļģi (est. 1981) and Madonas skandinieki (est. 1981), and from 1987 onwards also the Group Grodi. These Folk-groups turned into a type of battle and way of living.

At this event the leader of Iļģi, Ilga Reizniece and the musicologist Valdis Muktupāvels together with participants of the national resistance movement Maija Cālīte and Dāvis Stalts will discuss the issue.
