Support of political participation younger generations

On the 17th of July 2017, the Lebanese Forces party together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation hosted at the Lebanese Forces Head Quarters in Meerab a conference on the security and terror threats in Lebanon and the appropriate response.

On the 17th of July 2017, the Lebanese Forces party together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation hosted at the Lebanese Forces Head Quarters in Meerab a conference on the security and terror threats in Lebanon and the appropriate response. The conference is a continuity to the last year conference with special guest Dr. Günter Krings Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Germany and Member of the Bundestag. The conference gathered around 60 invitees including ministers, members of parliament, ambassadors, military attachés, municipality members’ representatives and political party representatives. The conference covered topics related to the Lebanese army competences in controlling the borders with Syria, and the role of the local community in supporting the army in its fight against the terrorist organizations. It also overviewed the situation of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and its repercussions on the Lebanese state by taking into consideration the proposed solution from Lebanese Forces which is related to Syrian refugees’ voluntary return. During the conference the five-year development plan for the Internal Security Forces announced by Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk was also discussed. Finally, the coordination between the Lebanese security services and the European security services was discussed to strengthen cooperation specifically after the terrorists’ attacks in Europe. The conference was broadcasted by several local TVs and radio stations.
