After an unsuccesful try to escape from the GDR Freya Klier (1950) studied Acting and Film directing in Leipzig, Dresden and Berlin. After graduation from the University she worked in Geraman theaters. In 1980 she was one of the founding members of the GDR Peace movement. For her achievements in promoting democracy she was awarded with the Medal of the Federal State of Berlin and Constitutional Prize of the Federal State of Saxony. The main subject of her movies is the German past during and after the 2nd World War (Nazi-Germany and GDR).

Arūnas Bubnys was born in 1961. In 1985 he graduated from the Vilnius University and worked in the Institute for History. During the 1993-1995 he was director of the Special Archive of the Republic of Lithuania and graduated the PhD studies in Philology in 1994. The main subjects of his researches are Millitary occupation policy of the Nazi-Germany in Lithuania during the Second World War, Polish underground movements in Lithuania in 1941-1944.

The discussion will begin with the documentary film "Escape with the Moscow-Paris-Express" (2001) by Freya Klier. The movie is about young people trying to escape from the GDR to West Germany in 1964 as they jump on the train Moscow-Paris-Express almost before the border to West Berlin. The former 17-years olds meet again after 36 years.
