Lithuania celebrates the 20 anniversary of restoration of independent Lithuanian state

On 11.3.1990 Lithuania was the first Soviet Republic to declare the restoration of independence. The Supreme Council of Lithuania voted for the Declaration of Restoration of the Independent State. After the declaration was announced, Lithuania appealed to countries across the globe and asked for support and solidarity. Despite the initial pressure from Moscow the world’s community recognized Lithuania’s independence in August 1991, after the communist putsch against Gorbatchev failed. more…

Partner of KAS - Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Audronius Ažubalis, was nominated to the new Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Lithuanian Government led by Prime-Minister Kubilius. The former Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas had to resign after the President Grybauskaite has withdrawn the confidence due to different oppinions about the Lithuanian foreign policy. Ažubalis is a Partner of KAS. Recently he participated at the Lit.-Ger. Energy Dialogue in Vilnius. more…

Prof. Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering new Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung

On December 4, 2009 the members of the foundation elected former President of the European Parliament Prof. Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering MEP to the new Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. Today Mr. Pöttering oficially takes the lead of KAS and becomes successor of the former longtime Chairman Prof. Dr. Bernhard Vogel, who will continue to support the KAS as honorary Chairman.
