In front of the Parliamentary Elections in Germany and South Africa politicians, media manager and journalists from both countries are meeting to discuss the role of the public broadcaster during the particular election campaigns.

The participants will discuss the relationship between the political parties and the media and will analyze the role of media regulations in emerging countries as well as in industrialized countries.

Organized by the Media programme for sub-Saharan Africa, with the help of the Deutsche Welle, the conference will be the kick start for a number of meetings which are supposed to bring not only South Africa and Germany closer together but also the two continents.

Besides the experts from the two countries it is planned to have in future also participants of other umbrella organizations like the AUB (African Union of Broadcasters) and the EBU (European Union of Broadcasters).
