Also available in Deutsch

Over the past decades Southeast Asia has seen a new resurgence in maritime piracy. Reported pirate attacks have more than tripled over the past decade while over 35% of the reported attacks in 2005 occurred in Southeast Asian waters. Hosted by the Media Programme Asia of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAS) in Singapore, this workshop will bring together journalists and maritime experts to discuss various topics related to piracy such as its’ social causes as well as its’ often declared possible relation to maritime terrorism. The focus will be placed on the problems and challenges that journalists face when trying to objectively report on the topic.
