Young journalists from South East Europe in Berlin

Twelve young journalists from four countries in South East Europe will participate in a study and dialog program to be held in Berlin from Sept. 6 – 10. Talks with journalists, a visit to the federal press conference as well as to newspapers editorial offices and political institutions are on the agenda. They will be accompanied by Mr Matthias Barner, director of the Media Program South East Europe.

Digitalization of Media

At a conference organized by the Media Program South East Europe high-ranking media representatives, politicians and experts discussed the political, social and technological challenges of media digitalization. The German experience was reviewed too.

Workshop for Journalists Covering Justice Issues

Following the recent judicial reform in Serbia, and in cooperation with the Media Center Belgrade, the Media Program South East Europe organized a four-day workshop for journalists covering legal issues. Representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor’s Office, courts and media were discussing about practical problems and possible solutions in view of a better cooperation between media and judiciary.

Ownership Transparency and Media Freedom in Bulgaria

The Media Program South East Europe has been organizing an official round table discussion on current issues of media pluralism and media freedom in Bulgaria. Nearly 70 chief editors, media owners, politicians, ambassadors and media experts participated in the two-hour meeting. This was the first official panel with such broad participation about the situation of media in Bulgaria. The media coverage was very extensive too.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Political Communication and Responsibility

Ahead of parliamentary elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in cooperation with the Press Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Media Program South East Europe started a series of four workshops with the first one to take place in Sarajevo. The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of the speakers of parties, ministries and governmental institutions for the political and social responsibility in communication with media and citizens.
