The call for applications for the Summer School of Investigative Reporting 2018 has started. The seminar will take place from 19 until 25 August in Romania. Host organisations are the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) and the Media Program South East Europe of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

Journalists with a special interest in investigative reporting and international cooperation in this field are welcome to apply.

The Summer School offers several skill-building panels with focus on techniques for investigating corruption, as well as data journalism and open source information.

Lead trainer is the Reuters investigative projects editor Blake Morrison.

A limited number of full scholarships will be available to journalists from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia with at least three years of experience in journalism. These will be awarded on a merit and need basis and may additionally cover up to €100 in travel cost.

International journalists can apply for an early-bird fee until 15 May.
