Discussion forum 4th-6th July in Malawi
Social Market Economy - A Concept for African Economies?
On 4th (Lilongwe), 5th (Zomba) and 6th July (Blantyre) the KAS organized a discussion forum on Social Market Economy in cooperation with the Economics Association of Malawi (ECAMA) and the Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN). The guest speaker was Prof. Dr. Jörg Winterberg from Germany (SHR Hochschule Heidelberg) who explained the basic aspects of the economic model which was adopted in Germany after the Second World War. The presentation was followed by lively discussions.
4th Ecomonic Forum Malawi
Leaders in the public service should decide to make a difference!
The 4th Economic Forum, a joint initiative between MEJM, ECAMA and KAS, was held on Friday, 4th March 2011, in Lilongwe. Both the main presenter and the discussant agreed that the role of politics cannot be overemphasized in attaining effectiveness in the public service, therefore stressing the importance of political leadership to attaining an effective public service. Leaders in the public service should decide to make a difference, thereby creating ‘islands of excellence’.
