Realising Democracy: KAS organized Seminar on Electoral Law
In the run-up to the general elections in Pakistan, KAS held a training on the “Role of Free and Fair Elections in Promoting Democracy” in cooperation with the Society for Enforcement of Rule of Law on April 11, 2013 in Islamabad. Chief Guest Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Head of the European Union Delegation to Pakistan, highlighted the significance of the elections and stated that they are “the most important elections ever held in the country”. Around 120 lawyers attended the event.
New Country Director
Ronny Heine takes over the KAS Office Pakistan
On April 10, 2013, the new Resident Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Ronny Heine, has taken over the office in Islamabad from Tinko Weibezahl, who served as interim representative from December 2012. Mr Heine was previously Director of the Educational Centre at Wendgraeben/Germany. The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Dr Cyrill Nunn, who received the new Representative at the embassy, welcomed him to Pakistan and extended his best wishes for the time to come.
RULE OF LAW PROGRAM
KAS Held Training on International Trade Laws
In a globalizing world, international trade laws are becoming increasingly important. As part of its Rule of Law program, the KAS Pakistan Office organized a training on this topic for lawyers and law students in cooperation with the Society for Enforcement of Rule of Law. Around 100 participants attended the seminar which took place on October 20, 2012 in Islamabad. Abdullah Yousuf, former Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, participated as chief guest.
