The bilateral relations between Pakistan and India could be much better. Across the border region of Pakistan and Afghanistan terrorists and insurgents operates and become more and more a dangerous for neighbor countries. Besides the financial and the energy crisis sharpened the political conditions in these countries. Also, elections in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Indian will follow up in 2009. Altogether, the situation in 2009 might go to become a political challenge for this region.

In this context the KAS wants to present members of parliament from Pakistan and Afghanistan the forthcoming project work of the foundation (related to the G8 Afghanistan-Pakistan Initiative) and discuss approaches how to improve the contact between parliaments of the countries. The intended goal is to create a forum in which enduring exchange become possible. At the KAS-Forum 2009 selected Senators, Members of the Parliament and National Assembly, ministers, diplomats, journalists and scientists take part.
