Ramifications and Policy Options for Pakistan

To discuss the US Af-Pak policy, a roundtable was organized by the Institute of Regional Studies in collaboration with the Konrad Adenuer Stiftung (KAS) on June 9, 2009. The focus of the roundtable, as the title suggests, was to inquire about the policy, whether it would be in the national interest of Pakistan or it would result in creating more problems for the state? A number of former diplomats, policymakers, scholars and experts in the field participated in the discussion. (List attached). The intention of the Afghan-Pakistani Dialogue Forum of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is to establish a platform do discuss and to process political topics. The third Roundtable this year focused on „Terrorism as a challenge for nation building – bilateral approach for solutions“. German scholar Mr. Rolf Tophoven, an expert on the topic since many decades as well as many Pakistani Generals, government representatives, persons from the civil society, universities, and the media took part in the roundatable discussion. Afghanistan - Unabated Turmoil

This book is one of the results of an international seminar organized by the Institute for Regional Studies Islamabad, Pakistan and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung on May 12, 2008. The conference was part of the AFGHANISTAN-PAKISTAN DIALOGUE FORUM 2008 of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The international seminar addressed the prevailing political uncertainty and turmoil and deteriorating security conditions in Afghanistan and its implications for the international community and neighboring countries, especially Pakistan. more…
