Leadership Workshop for Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao Top Officials

The Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG), with support from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, and the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) conducted a leadership training workshop for Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) top officials from July 12th to 15th. Peace Work Camp towards Sustainable Peace in Mindanao

On May 20 – 23, a peace work camp on the pursuit of sustainable peace, equity and development in Mindanao was implemented by the Resource Center for Empowerment and Development (RCED) of Balay Mindanaw Foundation, Inc. (BMFI). The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung supported this first and particular event which was held at the Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village in Cagayan de Oro City. more…

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Bill Signed into Law

The Disaster Risk Reduction Bill, which was actively pushed by the Philippine Consortium on Good Local Governance (PCGLG), the Disaster Risk Reduction Network among others, has been signed into law by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo last 27 May 2010 by virtue of Republic Act 10121. The Consortium was organized by the Local Government Development Foundation in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. more…

The Philippine Opportunity to Increase Competitiveness with New President

This year’s results of the World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) were bleak: the Philippines ranked 39th of 58 countries in terms of competitiveness, released to the press on May 20 at the AIM Conference Center Manila by the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center with support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stftung. The WCY is published annually by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland. more…

Promoting a Centrist Democratic Reform Agenda among Young Professionals

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, together with its local partner Technical Assistance Center for the Development of the Rural and Urban Poor (TACDRUP), recently conducted six forum-workshops on crafting a centrist democratic agenda with young professionals from Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon. On 1st March 2010, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung together with five partner organizations from Southeast-Asia started to implement the 2.5 year project “Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast-Asia”. The 1.8 Mio project is co-funded by the European Commission and the German Ministry for Development Cooperation. more…
