The Focus of this session will be on the exchange of experiences with regard to the role and functions of national parliaments in the context of globalization.

Central questions being addressed during this Dialogue by Parliamentarians from different countries in Europe and Asia include:
- What role do Parliaments play in presumably established, as well as 'young' democracies?
- How do the Parliamentarians communicate with the electorate?
- How is the work of Parliamentarians legitimized and how are they representative of the electorate?
- How do Parliamentarians realize the development of the international system which undeniably puts restrictions on the decision-making authorty of nation-states and their national and regional parliaments?
