The Asian Women Parliamentarian Caucus (AWPC), met in Copenhagen, Denmark from 16th to 19th May to attend the largest global conference to discuss solutions for girls and women in health, rights, gender equality, education and economic empowerment.

The Women Deliver conference held at the Bella Centre saw over 5,000 global leaders, policymakers and stakeholders attend the 4 day series of plenaries and over 100 concurrent side activities.

The AWPC network, formally established in 2014, were also invited by the European Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development (EPF) to attend daily plenaries and meetings organised for Parliamentarians at the conference, including meetings at the Danish Parliament and daily forum sessions with legislators from all over the world. The conference proceedings were interspersed with KAS organised internal country reporting sessions with AWPC members across the 4 days. These sessions included country presentations from network MPs on socio-political developments in regards to elections/post-elections, human rights situations especially in regards to gender issues as well as sharing of country legislative best practices. There was also a workshop session to brainstorm and develop follow up activities for the caucus, in pursuance towards continuing the policy discussions around the SDGs and its related topics.
