Building on the great success of the inaugural workshop on ASEAN Security Connectivity (ASC) in Singapore, from March 19 to 21, the second workshop will see to the further development of the ASC concept, this time in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Regional Programme Political Dialogue Asia of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KASPDA), together with its partner the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) will gather the pool of established experts from the across region again in order to commence on phase two of this 1.5 year project.

ASC aims to develop a concept and clear policy recommendations, with the goal to enhance security cooperation within existing ASEAN mechanisms. Over the course of three workshops, the concept itself will evolve and shall be exemplified by application to three case studies. Resulting policy recommendations will be fed into the Thai and Vietnamese ASEAN Chairmanship. Since the first workshop has successfully prepared the groundwork, the expert will now in Hanoi produce a tangible strategy for ASEAN –based security cooperation.
