Asian Women Parliamentarian Caucus

Women, Education and Economic Empowerment- Turning Actions into Progress

July 25 Wednesday

July 25 - 28, 2018

Yangon, Myanmar

Education is an essential means to achieve the SGD Goal 5 of the 2030 agenda and economic empowerment of women is closely linked to progress.

As we still face significant gaps in women’s empowerment, it is important that policymakers from the countries in the region engage in dialogue and exchange of expertise and best practices on how to achieve women empowerment through education in practice. Since 2011, we have brought together a network of Asian women parliamentarians annually to promote, strengthen and develop female political leadership in the region through policy discussions and capacity building workshops. The network has been meeting up for thematic meetings on issues pertaining to women’s empowerment in Asia. This year the caucus will offer an platform to discuss the role of education in the economic empowerment of women in the region. In this two day event we are bringing together women parliamentarian, heads of business networks, development organizations and regional women networks to discuss on how we can contribute towards empowering women in the region.
