was the main theme of an international workshop jointly organised by East Asian Institute Singapore and KAS Regional Office. The workshop which coincided with the opening days of the Beijing Olympics provided an up-to-date policy analysis of East and Southeast Asian Countries and their multi-faceted security, economic and political relations with China.

22nd Asia Pacific Roundtable

From June 2nd to 5th the 22nd Asia Pacific Roundtable, organised by ISIS-Malaysia and co-funded by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Japanese Embassy, has brought together more than 250 experts from more than 20 countries. During the three-day-conference in Kuala Lumpur, important security issues for the region have been discussed. KAS-ISEAS Partnership

ISEAS Director Ambassador K Kesavapany recently signed the project agreement 2008 between the Foundation and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. Following a recommendation of the external evaluator report and the excellent work of the renowned regional think tank, KAS has doubled its level of support from this year onwards.

Regional Outlook Forum 2008

This Forum was held successfully and the keynote address was delivered by Dr. NORBERT LAMMERT, President of the German Bundestag and Deputy Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. It was attended by more than 600 participants from think tanks, government agencies and diplomatic representatives as well as the media.

15th Conference of the East and Southeast Asia Network for Better Local Governments (ESEA)

The 15th International Conference of the East and Southeast Asia Network for better Local Governments, entitled "The Role of Local Governments in Promoting International Tourism and Foreign Investments", organised by KAS Singapore and LOGODEF Manila, was held from 1 - 3 November 2007 in Gumi City/Korea. Experts from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam delivered papers on their respective cities roles and experiences in promoting foreign investments.
