District level elections-lobbying, advocacy and fund raising

From 2006 to 2009, KAS has supported the Ghana Union of Trade Associations (GUTA)to understake various workshops which has contributed to improved relationship between trade associations and with the District Assemblies of Techiman, Wenchi, Tain and Nkoranza. In 2010, Ghana goes to the polls to elect and appoint members of the District Assemblies. There is overacharching need to support GUTA to sensitize members to be much more involved in the electoral process that is campaigning with members and well as lobby for appointment into the Assembly. In respect of these workshops, emphasis shall be laid on women candidates. These groups are also expected to share information and skills with their members.
