Regionaler Workshop über Dezentralisierung und Verwaltungsrecht
Das Kas-Rechtsstaatsprogramm für Subsahara-Afrika veranstaltete einen zweitägigen regionalen Workshop in Dakar, um Akteuren in Schlüsselpositionen die Möglichkeit zu bieten, sich über Erfahrungen und Strategien zur Förderung der Dezentralisierung und Entwicklung des Verwaltungsrechts im frankophonen Afrika auszutauschen und so zu einer Verbesserung dieser rechtsstaatlichen Kernelemente beizutragen. Die Konferenz wurde vom Justizminister des Senegal und vom deutschen Botschafter eröffnet. (4. März 2010)

Dschibuti 25.-29.Januar 2010
Die KAS veranstaltete einen regionalen Workshop über Frieden und Sicherheit im Horn von Afrika in Dschibuti, Sitzstaat von IGAD, zu einem Zeitpunkt da in der krisenerschütterten Region wegweisende Entscheidungen anstehen, etwas das Referendum über die Unabhängigkeit des Südsudans 2011 oder die staatliche Zukunft Somalias. Book Launch
This books explores the extent to which Africa's electoral systems are responding to the democratic needs and aspirations of Africans, and surveys how they work in practice as well as the challenges African countries face in their efforts to reform them. Issues addressed in here include, legal and political architecture for elections in selected countries, questions of ethnicity and their relationship to elections and representation, electoral violence, electoral dispute resolution among others (18. Book Launch
This books seeks to refocus the ongoing debate on the post-election violence and place it within a transitional justice context rather than simply a one-off prosecution of those with greatest responsibility for the 2007 post-election violence. It does so by offering valuable lessons from other countries and by expanding the scope of issues that need attention when addressing transitional justice such as the role of domestic courts, gender issues, and the role of international community. International Conference, Nov 17-20 2009
Conference on Options for Transitional Justice in Post Conflict African Societies
As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations and in view of the 2007 post-election violence in Kenya, ICJ Kenya in conjunction with its parners including the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung held an international conference in Mombasa on the theme 'Options for Transitional Justice in Post Conflict African Societies'. The conference was graced by high-ranking judges from the ICC, the Rwanda Tribunal, Kenya government officials,judges from East African region and leading legal practitioners in Africa. (17.
