Richterliche Ethik und die Organisation der Gerichtsbarkeit Der Senat des Königreichs Kambodscha und die KAS veranstalten eine Konferenz zum Thema "Richterliche Ethik und die Organisation der Gerichtsbarkeit". Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, ein Forum zu schaffen, in dem verschiedene Aspekte diskutiert werden können, die mit der richterlichen Unabhängigkeit zusammenhängen, namentlich interner und externer Druck auf die Gerichtsbarkeit. Daneben behandelt die Konferenz das Thema "Richterliche Ethik". Und zwar auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene. (Oct. 26, 2009)

Konferenz zum Thema Informationsfreiheit Öffentlich gewährte Informationsfreiheit: Nutzen, Durchsetzung und Herausforderungen TI Malaysia und die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung veranstalten eine Konferenz zum Thema Informationsfreiheit. Die Konferenz möchte zur Diskussion über diejenigen Fragestellungen anregen, die mit der Verabschiedung eines Informationsfreiheitsgesetzes einhergehen. Vortragende sind u.a. Zweite Konferenz zur gerichtlichen Verteidigung der freien Medienberichterstattung in Südostasien Das Center for International Law, die Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) und die KAS veranstalten die 2. Konferenz rund um das Thema "Gerichtsverfahren zur Verteidigung der Medienfreiheit". Die Konferenz soll Juristen und Fachleuten aus der Medienbranche aus Südostasien dazu dienen, Erfahrungen mit der legalen Bedrohung der Meinungsäuβerungs- und Pressefreiheit auszutauschen und rechtliche Strategien zu entwickeln, wie man den Bedrohungen in den jeweiligen Ländern Herr werden kann. Const. Rev. and Separation of Powers 6th Conference of Asian Constitutional Court Judges in Mongolia leaves permanent impressions Constitutional Judges from Asia and Germany just as other Asian and European experts on Constitutional Law discussed within two days of fruitful sessions the difficult balancing of power between Constitutional Courts and other constitutional bodies in beautiful Mongolia. Thanks to the Mongolian Constitutional Court hosting the conference, participants received an impression of Mongolia and it's culture, too. Participants also left with fond memories of impressing personal encounters. (Oct. 1, 2009)

Kingdom of Bhutan Constitutional Objective: Gros National Happiness On invitation of Prime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley (photo centre) KAS Rule-of-Law Programme organized its first seminar in Bhutan. Matters of interpretation of the Constitution, newly enacted in 2008 were discussed with the Constitutional Law expert from Hamburg/Germany, Prof. Ulrich Karpen. Participants included the Speaker of the National Assembly, Lyonpo Jigme Tshulthrim, Members of both Houses, Chief Justice Lyonpo Sonam Tobgye, Attorney General Dasho Rinzin Penjo and many jugdes and lawyers. Extrajudicial Killings KAS hosts third Prosecutors' Training Course in Naga City, Philippines On September 4 and 5 in Naga City, Philippines, KAS conducted the third in a series of training courses on extrajudicial killings. The events which were conducted in partnership with ABA's Rule of Law Initiative featured presentations by national and international prosecutors, academics and legal and forensic experts who discussed a wide range of topics related to investigating and prosecuting suspected extrajudicial killings. The attendees included more than 40 prosecutors from Bicol Region. (Sep. 9, 2009)
