During the visit of the German Professor Wolfgang Donsbach at the Department of Media & Communication, students had the pleasure of witnessing an unexpected guest lecture on Media Theory - a subject Prof. Donsbach teaches at his own University in Dresden. Both sides valued the knowledge exchange, while the visitor got insight impressions from the Phnom Penh media school and its curriculum. His visit to Cambodia also included discussions at the CCJ. A ceremony in presence of H.E. Khieu Khanarith, Minister of Information, Paul Linnarz, Director of the KAS Media Program in Singapore and Rabea Brauer, KAS Country Representative in Cambodia, concluded a training of basic journalism conducted by the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ). The participants received certificates proving the increased knowledge on tools and standards in journalism. These trainings are an important service offered by CCJ to professionals working in the media sector. (Mar. 18, 2010)

Cambodia's Team for Konrad-Adenauer-School for Young Politicians

A regional training program for young political leaders is starting on March 14 in Manila, Philippines. The project is a joint initiative of KAS and the Ateneo School of Governance in Manila. 60 young politicians from all over Asia are joining the two-year training and capacity building program. Cambodia will send 8 young leaders form all political parties represented in the National Parliament. (Mar. 11, 2010)

Sosatra joins European Volunteer Service in Italy

Our staff member Sosatra competed successfully for a 6 months-internship in Italy within the "Youth in Action" Program. The initiative is part of a global EU-Project linked to the European Volunteer Service. Sosatra, being one of 12 successful candidates from Cambodia, was offered a place in Palermo, joining a Civil Society Organisation focusing on migrant workers and migration problems in southern Italy. DMC and META HOUSE
Starting February 27, Meta House will present monthly screenings of student videos from the Department of Media and Communication (DMC) at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the only degree program in journalism in Cambodia. Every last Saturday of the month, Meta House will show some of the best films by DMC students. The topics range from controversial political subjects to fascinating little vignettes of quotidian life in Cambodia. In sum, they give a fascinating insight into the country. (Feb. 22, 2010) »
